Let's WindPaddle !
Picture
The WindPaddle is a lightweight and simple to use sail that can be easily attached to your kayak - All WindPaddle sails launch and fly from the on-deck position. They can be set up for instant self-launching either before sailing or while out on the water so there’s no need to return to shore to launch your sail. They can also be moved from hull to hull with minimum fixings required. The WindPaddle design puts the centre of force of the sail down low, at about the same level as the paddler, making the boat/sail combination incredibly stable and easy-to-use. The WindPaddle Sails are used by a wide variety of kayakers from experienced expedition paddlers to novices alike ..........

The Adventure has a larger sail area and flatter sail profile than the Scout - it has a stiffer perimeter batten that can handle higher winds and as it delivers more power you will also be able to sail in lighter winds as well - It offers an increased sailing envelope allowing the paddler to reach higher angles off the wind - All these combine to make the Adventure sail WindPaddles best selling sail and the sail of choice for recreational and expedition paddlers.

WindPaddle's Cruiser sail is designed to power heavy canoes and tandems - it is also a great choice for larger sit-on tops or for those who only choose to head out in lighter winds - The larger sail area requires a stiffer perimeter batten to maintain it's form so a little more practice is required to master the fold but practice makes perfect.......

Here we have WindPaddle's Sailing kit - perfect for those who would like to secure the sailing sheets to the deck of their kayak using the clam cleats provided - this allows easy hands free sailing which is particularly good if your kayak doesn't have a rudder system so you can use your trailing paddle blade for steerage.

At Darrens Kayaks you can bring your kayak to us and we are happy to fit your Windpaddle for you (some kayaks require additional deck fittings). We also offer the service of taking you onto the water to demonstrate how to use your new WindPaddle. Below we have a series of pictures showing how we have fitted WindPaddles to the various types of kayaks ....
